The weekend, briefly

Another busy weekend, helping out with a few renovations at the family home. Or, Dustin helped renovate. I cooked and stocked the fridge, mostly because I am afraid of power tools (which is completely rational when you grow up with two woodworkers in the family - if you'd spent as much time as I have in the ER, watching hands get stitched up, you'd be wary too). And food always comes in handy.

It should be noted that Circe is far more fond of the kitchen than the woodshop so we got to spend quite a bit of time together this weekend. And she does in fact eat cauliflower, but only once it's roasted.

  2. Haha, my dog has the same exact resting spot (picture 1), perched on the corner of the couch. I wonder if they just like being able to see all the action from up there...

  21. can we please make arrangements for a circe cam? so that we can have all circe, all the time? and a recipe for your roasted cauli?

  22. @ BigBANG - sadly, Circe would violently disagree with a Circe cam, considering how reluctantly she allows me to take photos. Also, it would probably cut down on the amount of trouble she could get into without getting caught and stopped.

Roasted cauliflower - slice cauliflower head into thick-ish slices (about 1/2" thick). Break pieces apart a bit with your hands (should look about like it does in the photo). Drizzle with olive oil (1 - 2 tbsp for each head of cauli) add salt and pepper and toss well. Spread out on a baking dish and roast at 450 degrees until nice and browned (this takes a while with cauliflower - at least 45 minutes, I think). Eat like candy. One head per 3 - 4 people, depending on how much they love cauliflower.
