Doughnut day

You guys, I am alive! But much more importantly, it's national doughnut day.

If I'd known, I would have prepared accordingly. (Who makes up these days?)

You might not know it, but my grandparents had a brief fling with a doughnut franchise and my mom was unpaid labor back in high school, working alone on the night shift. She still loves doughnuts (shockingly, right?), but we're a pretty discriminating family. I only eat doughnuts a few times a year, because I only want good ones. Also, doughnuts are a terribly ineffective get rich quick scheme.

Photos from last weekend are still hanging out in my camera, and I'm not even sure how many I managed to take. The wedding is in three months. We are trying to get our asses in gear. Will report soonest.

  1. I had no idea until this morning that it was Donut Day. At first I was annoyed that I hadn't prepared anything, but then I realized it wouldn't have mattered since I can't find a good donut anywhere here in Sweden. Oh, well... Next year maybe?

  2. Donut Day? Ha, I have to declare one here definitely!
Or to invent a local holiday called 'loukoumades' day - you lived in Greece I am sure you tried them.

  8. @ Its all Greek to me - Loukoumades are soooo amazing! I only wish I had a year round supply here - I can only get them when the Greek festival rolls around each summer. I do have a recipe for them, but I still haven't gotten over my fear of frying.

@ Nicole - YES! THREE MONTHS! Sadly, a lot of the stuff we have to do is big stuff, rather than details we could let go of. We procrastinated, big time. : (
