Friday flowers

Full blown garden roses (courtesy of my parents' garden).

the week in review

(+)
the roses smell amazing
found a route that lets me walk to work
put a new basil plant in the ground

(-)
very busy week at work = tired me
tried to make lazy pad thai using TJs satay sauce, colossal failure
no new episode of parks and rec, again. this makes me much more sad than I like to admit

  5. Mkay, a couple things:

I just posted a triptych. Without seeing your diptych. We have total ESPN, as we say in my family.

Your mama can grow some serious roses.

I LOVE that bare-bulb lamp. I'm guessing it was a thrift score and that I'll never find one like it, but I love it. Hope you have a restful weekend, Rache!

  14. @ bigBANG - not quite a thrift store score. These actually used to the standard lamps in my lab. Now we have modern ones, but we all use the old ones in our homes/offices.

@ ampersandity - I think it was user error on my part. I thought I had purchased peanut sauce, but it was actually satay sauce, which is meant for dipping. I just poured it all over the noodles anyways, because I was hungry. Did not taste like pad thai at all. In general, TJ's sauces are pretty good, so I'm guessing your red curry sauce will be a hit.

@ Julia - your perception of distance post made me think about it some more! I'll post some more details in the next few weeks.

  15. Those are beautiful flowers! Do you like flowers that don't blend or do blend? I switch between both depending on the season.

  19. Have you tried TJ's pad thai in a box? The sauce in that kit is pretty spot on, you just have to add your protein of choice and viola, pad thai.

  21. I love garden roses. They are so much better than the ones you get from a florist.
