The weekend, (very) briefly

The days are flying and I never seem to catch up - this weekend I barely even managed to get my camera out. We were shopping for 8 hours on Saturday (registering + more suits) and I'm amazed we survived. Luckily, the Macy's we went to had a restaurant in it, so we were able to break for a caprese sandwich and a Fat Tire. We're making progress, but all those little tasks add up and feel daunting.

I did a couple of quick centerpiece mock ups with the paper flowers. I'm happy with how the concept is coming along, but I never commit to a DIY project without stepping back and taking a realistic assessment of the time involved. The idea I have is going to be incredibly time consuming, so we came up with a scaled down back up plan and a back up back up plan. I'll make the final call a month before the wedding.

  2. just to put my thought in real quick, I didn't do nearly enough DIY for my wedding & that's one of the biggest things I regret. I was getting to busy before it, so I said forget it. But looking back, I think it would have been worth it. I'm sure it with be beautiful whatever you chose, just wanted to let you know my experience! :) xox

  5. Your flowers are beautiful. And I enjoy reading your blog. For what it's worth we made paper flowers for the tables at our wedding and started about 3 months out making a few at night after work and not every night either. We didn't spend more than about a 1/2 hour at each sitting and had it done in about 3 weeks. If that sort of approach works for you it's a low stress way to get it done and still have a life.

  15. Thanks, guys! The flower tutorial will definitely be coming, at some point. But possibly not until after the wedding. I can point you to the tutorial for the little spiral flowers that you see in the base layer. It was originally a MS idea, but I found the tutorial here. Very, very simple.

The larger flowers are my own designs that I've sort of been winging as I go along. But I'm settling into a rhythm and I will be able to explain the process at some point. It took a while to even figure out what I was doing and what worked well!

Hope the suit search has proved fruitful.

  18. We registered at a really old Macy's and our scanner was probably 10x larger than yours. LOL. I wish someone had given me a beer afterwards.
