Friday flowers

D surprised me with flowers this week.

tulips, lisianthus

I added the hearts, naturally. I resisted the urge to glitter them, and I consider that my valentine's gift to him.

I'm always sort of bewildered by the fun valentine's day crafts you're supposed to make for your boyfriend. Because honestly, I'm pretty sure D would be touched by the effort, but otherwise uninterested in origami folded love notes hidden around the house or anything similar.

He did get brownies, but I only cut two of them into heart shapes. The rest we ate out of the pan, with a fork.

  1. Beautiful! And I just love the "enjoy" napkin. You make them, yes? I've noticed them in your pictures and think they are wonderful. If I owned my dream restaurant I would feature these napkins in them. :)

  2. I was thinking the exact same thing last week when all the blogs were posting valentine's day crafts. They're so adorable, but not really appreciated by the boys. That's why I just make them for my friends.

  4. Brownies are the way to a man's heart. Unless he doesn't like sweets like my bf does...what to do. Pretty flowers!

  5. I completely agree! On V-day or otherwise, my hubs is mostly unimpressed by my crafty efforts... but he always loves a nice dinner for some baked treats I make for him!

    The heart-shaped brownies are super-cute! :)

  6. Hah! A truer post has never been written. I spent a week making pennants and photo garlands for his 40th birthday party, and while he was touched and thankful, his main concern was me having enough time to make his favorite banana cream pie. :)

  8. Those photos are almost as beautiful as those flowers (but not quite). Surprises are the absolute BEST and it's so wonderful knowing the one you love is thinking about your and how to love and serve you well when you don't even realize it. Great post and I totally want a bite out of that brownie.

  12. Have to say, out of the pan with a fork is the best way to eat brownies :) But those little hearts are so endearing!
