One week in

The new year has been around for a week, and I think I'm doing pretty well. So far I have...

* Given myself a day in bed with plenty of frivolous reading

unmade bed

* Indulged myself with two massages (the first one was so painful - turns out it's not easy working huge knots out of your back - that I needed a second one to recuperate and now I feel awesome)

* Taken a long drive down Mulholland with D, chasing the sunset from east to west and stopping along the way

Driving Mulholland

* Woken up early enough each morning to sit and drink a cup of good tea and read a book before I have to get ready for work

How are you guys doing with your resolutions?

  3. I'm not doing nearly as good as you... what a great list of resolutions. I'm so jealous of a full day of frivolous reading!! And the two massages in one week? Sounds fabulous!

  4. I'm doing ok. That getting up every morning to walk and eat breakfast thing? Not so much. But I am wearing actual clothes that I did not sleep in to work, so that's good :). Baby steps.

  5. I am intrigued by your last resolution. I seem to run from the moment I wake up until the moment I get to work. I need to leave myself more time to relax!

  8. Good for you! A day reading sounds great, and that photo of your drive is breathtaking.

I've been doing a pretty good job myself--been to the gym four times in six days, and have tried several new recipes this week for dinner! My fave, in addition to that chili I mentioned before, was a really lovely moroccan stewed chicken with a brown rice pilaf on the side. i'm totally loving this whole 'expanded kitchen horizons' thing!

have a great weekend full of lots more relaxation!

  9. Hmmm... good question. Suppose I'm doing alright, but I think I need to buck up a bit. Sounds like you're off to a great beginning though!

  10. You are so smart to recharge for the new year!

I'm hoping to catch up on my resolution to spend more time living and less time working this weekend...which I suppose means that I've already weakened on my resolution the first week of the New Year.

    Happy weekend Rachel!

    painted my nails last night
laughed a lot with my kids this week

still working on spending and contentment - those are always the hardest for me. (seeing as I splurged on pair of sevens this week and some new artwork for the house - eek!) I couldn't resist!!!

  19. There is something about a rumpled bed that makes me want to crawl back in with a stack of books and something warm. I know, stop me now.
