I have a thing for pinecones. I wait for my bus every evening under a canopy of large trees and at this time each year I find myself scanning the ground, looking for the most perfect specimens - shapely and small enough to squirrel away in my bag. It's an odd compulsion. Gradually I end up with a small pile on in the entryway and eventually they all have to get thrown out. Every year.
So this year I made a little place for them.

Oh, and I couldn't resist playing favorites and gilding the best one.

I'll now consider us fully decorated for the season. I love fall.

I love simple, natural decorations. I collect pine cones from the park near my house during the fall/winter too.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! So simple, yet so elegant as a fall decoration.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! I have a weird thing for pinecones too!
ReplyDeleteNew to your blog and love it. Pine cone's are charming, I like them too and used to collect them. Alas, none can be found on NY streets!
ReplyDeleteI love simple decorations. I was planning on adding some pinecones to our house, now I might just have to gild some of them.
ReplyDeletei do this everyyear too! Except I add holly leaves and berries and spray them too!

You are funny : )
ReplyDeleteI like them as well though, I have memories of when I was little and used to catch them and paint them different colors.
my mama did this when she first got married, and ended up making a whole garland with artificial pine and baubles and lights!
ReplyDeletei like this. gilded perfection.
ReplyDeleteLove this. The gilded one balances the others so well...adorbs. Xo, Katie
ReplyDeleteI love pine cones too! In fact, I brought a bag of the giant sugar pine cones home from Lake Tahoe this summer. I wanted to gild several of them for Christmas, what did you use?
ReplyDelete@ Cara - I just used gold spray paint, Montana brand, which is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteLove this! So pretty.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I feel the same way about conkers and acorns; can never resist picking them up!
