But there are flowers.
{peonies, etc}
Big, crumpled petal peonies. Blowsier and more show offy than garden roses, which is a bit of a feat. If they were around all year, I don't think I could handle them. But a bit of over the top exuberance is perfect, in its own season.

There is one more Greece recap for next week and then more regular posting will resume. Possibly even posts with actual recipes and photographs and everything.
I don't know, I really like drooling over photos of your amazing vacation..."real posting" be damned!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous peonies, by the way. I might pick up a bouquet of something myself, to cure the I'm-not-on-vacation blues.
Flowers make everything better - don't they? These are lovely.
ReplyDeletei'm so impressed. even though you might not have unpacked entirely, the flowers i'm sure are making a big difference.
ReplyDeletewhat else does a person need when there our flowers? :)
ReplyDeletei don't want the recaps to end!
ReplyDeletebeautiful as always - get so many ideas for new flowers!
ReplyDeletethese are gorgeous -- love the flecks of pink!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, the settling home is always a bit of adjustment - especially after such a beautiful vacation.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about peonies... a perfectly welcome seasonal showiness!! Hope the weekend sees you with a pantry full of food and a closet full of clean clothes. And lots of rest and fun too!
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious about that very interesting looking statue in the first photo. It looks like the main character from A Nightmare Before Christmas, but with a top hat and walking stick.
ReplyDelete@ stephanie - He does look a lot like a Tim Burton character, but he's a day of the dead paper mache figure from Mexico. I should probably share him with you guys at some point, because he's one of our favorite things.
ReplyDeleteFlowers are like a made bed. They somehow make the mess not so intolerable:)
ReplyDeleteLovely! I know the feeling. Little things like flowers go a long way. :)
ReplyDeletelove these.
ReplyDeletelovely - very soothing i am sure amid the chaos of unpacking!
ReplyDelete"but there are flowers" i love that!
ReplyDeletepeonies. sometimes that's all you need.
ReplyDeleteOoh, and this is the perfect vase for them! I couldn't find the one that looked Just Right when I bought my bunch of peonies a few weeks ago -- this slimness (but still wide enough for the thick stalks) are perfect!
ReplyDeleteOoh very pretty peonies, I love their ruffles. It sounds like you had a great time in Greece, clearly a place very close to your heart which makes reading your posts so great!
ReplyDeleteI also need to get a move-on on the laundry... thankfully I have a large wardrobe. Those flowers are also very beautiful and elegant.
ReplyDeleteI love peonies. I need to find some around here.
