These ones look like they'll open up even more and hopefully that means they'll last for a while.
For Halloween I'll be sipping cider and hopefully getting some work done. I have to admit that I can't even face the thought of going out on a Saturday Halloween. I must be old, because just the thought of those crowded bars makes me shudder a bit. Also, I am not up to the costume pressure. I can never think of anything good and then I suffer from costume insecurity.
hmmmm. I bet weekly flowers help with stress, a little. :)
ReplyDeleteWoman! You hit the nail on the head with costume anxiety... My best friend is throwing a costume party tonight... and the anxiety it's caused for the past week... death of me... what to be??? what to be??? humph...
ReplyDeleteHaha I feel like that this year too! I'm only 21! But it just feels like too much hassle this year, like new years eve is sometimes.
ReplyDeletethe part i love most about having a saturday halloween is that i can spend the entire day carving pumpkins, watching scary movies and then throwing on an easy costume to go to a small gathering.
ReplyDeleteMmm cider and work....sounds like my weekend.
ReplyDeletemy feelings exactly!!! i will be inside hiding on saturday night! beautiful flowers! xo
ReplyDeleteYes we certainly do have Iris in our gardens in England, they are lovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteI will be suffering from costume insecurity, but I like it, so hopefully I won't suffer too bad.
ReplyDeleteI love iris! Too bad brides most brides aren't open to them for their weddings. For Halloween, I will not be dressing up, but my dogs will. Pesto is Pocahontas (again- recession, cannot afford a new costume) and Basil is a candy corn.
ReplyDeletei plan on sitting home to, we don't get many trick or treaters & i like a night off just to relax away from the crowds!
ReplyDeleteI too plan on being at home, watching some silly yet scary movies with my husband and eating some pumpkin ice cream. Sounds Heavenly.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely! I am staying in this Halloween as well - too crazy for my tastes!
ReplyDeleteahhh, yes, I'm only 23 and don't even want to think of the crowded bars and ridiculous excuses for costumes...
ReplyDeleteEw, bars on Halloween skeeve me out. Parties or cider are the only options. Will you have teeny cute trick-or-treaters?
ReplyDeleteLove your iris. My mom had us carry purple iris at her wedding; they always remind me of her.
Ah yes. I suffer from Jack-o-lantern insecurity. I know what you mean!
ReplyDeleteLOL- this is the first year ever that my husband and I have opted to stay in and skip the costumes. Last year we got stuck in Hollywood trying to get from a house party to Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan, and we swore that we were done with Hollywood Halloweens. Our excuse is, "we're too old for that." Whatever excuse works, you know? I'm looking forward to hanging out on the sofa, watching a movie, and eating pumpkin cookies! Hope you have a wonderful evening in, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the romance of Friday Flowers, thanks for such beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, I am so happy to just stay home handing out the Halloween candy, than being at a party or some crowded bar..Not to even mention the costume anxiety! Happy Quiet Halloween to you!
ReplyDeleteLOL Costume anxiety - i get that because i can never have the nerve to be quite as tarty as some of the costumes i see around. plus, smoke and crowds are a big yucky to me. i agree. my saturday will be at my cute niece's birthday party and perhaps the therapy dog costume party (only the puppies dress up).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Halloween
How very beautiful!

I was just feeling guilty for secretly hoping my plans tonight are canceled so I can get some work done and I read this and felt slightly less guilty! Good to know I'm not alone. Your flowers make me feel like it's spring. I hope they bring some sunshine to your weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers, beautiful
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous, summery pictures. Just what I needed on this most miserable of winter days.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, irises are indeed very British. Yellow ones grow wild on the tiny little windswept Scottish island I grew up on.
