Friday flowers - 2 for 1

The callas are hanging on from last week. I change the water every other day and I've trimmed the stems twice. The tablecloth is an Ikea fabric, of course.

I couldn't resist these giant snowy white chrysanthemums. (I could not for the life of me figure out how to spell chrysanthemum just now, which immediately made me think of Anne and Gilbert in the spelling bee. Do you remember that scene?)

That clock is from the flea market. It's amazing. The numbers are actually on little flaps and they flip around as the time changes.

  2. The chrysanthemums are absolutely gorgeous. I remember my mom used to read me a book about a little mouse name Chrysanthemum when I was little. That brings back good memories. :)

  14. I am in love with your comment about Anne & Gilbert and the spelling bee. That is what I think of, too, every time I need to spell chrysanthemum.

  15. Anne provides a commentary for every situation in life (much like the Godfather for men--or so You've Got Mail tells us...)

  22. I usually just say "mum" since I can never remember the correct spelling for chrysanthemum... and I'm a floral designer, so I really should know it. But yes, every time I hear that word I definitely think of Anne Shirley and the spelling bee. ;-)

  23. The world would be so much better if it had more Anne of Green Gables in it. I swears to God, I loved those books so much.

I've never seen cala lilies that color before! They look so cute in the yogurt jar that you must never return to Whole Foods.

  24. It may be your blog, or maybe another, Im not sure. But I have never kept fresh flowers in my room until recently when I started visiting my favorite blogs, and seeing all the wonderful images, like the ones above. They really brighten up my window, and seem to give the whole room and myself, a bit of joy and carefreeness.

  26. Good news for those of us lacking in the spelling department....this type of chrysanthemum is commonly referred to as a "China mum". I can spell that every time! :)

  29. I can't spell crysanth... crystanthamum... however it's spelled either! I just used one for a charm on a new Soc Chic necklace and had to spell check the whole time.

Hope you have a good weekend!
