Felt clouds

Just for fun, because I have lots of things that I actually should be doing and I like to procrastinate ...

I made some cloud ornaments out of white felt and some leftover silver vinyl from the wreath project. I just sketched out some clouds, cut two of each out of felt and one slightly smaller out of the silver. Handstitched everything and stuffed it with a bit of cotton batting.

Clouds don't really have anything to do with Christmas, of course - I just like the shapes.

  1. Super cute idea! If you have any friends with babies, they'd be great hanging from a mobile, too!

  2. omg, I love this. If you happen to be inspired in how to adapt this to, say, a back-design for some velour hoodies for a girl's 30th birthday trip to Vegas, please let me know ;) As it is, I'm contemplating big puffy "30"s using this technique, how stinkin fun would that be, hmm...

  6. They look great on your tree! I think the silver and white color combination actually makes them quite Christmas-y.

  7. How cute! I love felt. It's so easy to work with. I've made Santa ornaments this year, and I'm now working on felt poinsettias & pine cones. Haven't posted pictures (or anything, honestly) lately, but I do intend to. :)

  11. @ Megan - You're right - a cloud mobile would be so cute!

@ Cara - You could totally make big puffy "30"s appliques easily! Especially if you picked a font you liked and then printed the numbers out to use as a stencil for the vinyl. Just remember that if you're tracing the numbers on the backside of the fabric, you'll need to turn them backwards. My clouds were okay in either direction, so I didn't worry about it for this project.

  14. So adorable! One more thing to add to my list of Christmas projects I'll never do....Also really excited about the fabric you found at Ikea, will add that to my list of projects I should do but won't, especially since I am terrified of Ikea, particularly at Christmastime.
