I got to play sous chef on Saturday and help make the cake for a friend's wedding. And then we attended the wedding, which was intimate and amazing (just 28 people!). We talked and ate for hours. So good.
As a result, I was a lot less prepared than usual for the annual gingerbread house extravaganza, but we managed to get the houses all put together with just 15 minutes to spare and I relaxed (apple cider + brandy may have helped). It's one of my favorite parts of the season, even when things get hectic. Circe discovered that she loves royal frosting, which means that she now gets excited when she sees pastry bags. I was stepping on her all afternoon. She really is the weirdest dog.
haha. your dog sounds awesome. and that cake - you've got a talent! (as i'm sure you know)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Sometimes its really good to be busy : ) I love being surrounded by great people.
ReplyDeleteI love your table cloth and circe's bandana. Where's the fabric from?
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks GREAT! 28 people at the wedding sounds SO nice!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I will ever be able to do that though... My family is huge!
I ate way too much royal icing last night. And yet, I feel completely inspired to make a proper gingerbread house (the one that I ate was graham crackers).
ReplyDeleteThe dilemmas of the holidays.
This both makes me crave a cheeseplate and a gingerbread house party...What a fun tradition! ps. The cake looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAw, I love the gingerbread house party idea!
ReplyDeleteSometimes your pictures make me wish we were friends.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fantastic wedding. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd hooray for the annual gingerbread party! I've decided to make a couple houses and a bunch of gingerbread men to decorate with my niece & nephew this weekend. I figure they'll probably have more fun decorating the people - it's quicker & easier than houses for them (ages 2 & 5) - and they can bite their heads off later.
That cake and those houses are gorgeous. They're making me hungry!
ReplyDelete& Circe is adorable! I think all terriers are a little weird, but they're really the sweetest, cutest dogs.
Your gingerbread house is darling. It's really impressive that you were pressed for time and still made something so cute. xx
ReplyDeleteCirce looks so cute all dressed up! Love how your house turned out. :) And that wedding sounds awesome, more like a great party!
ReplyDeletethat cake looks amazing!!! def looks like a gr8 time!!

@ Cara - I wish I could tell you, but Circe's had that bandanna forever. She got it for Christmas one year and I'm guessing it came from Big Lots or something similar. I did purchase some super cute gingerbread men fabric with the intention of making her a new one this year, but I didn't get around to it. Next year, maybe.
ReplyDelete@ Naurnie - We can be remote friends!
@ Kristy - you will love it and they will love it! They'll probably only want to decorate for about 15 minutes, but that's okay. It's mostly about eating frosting and candy anyways.
@ Katie - yes, I think all terriers are weird! We've had a couple and they're so quirky. I think that's why I love them. They definitely aren't simple dogs.
Looks like fun!!! Pretty pictures :]
ReplyDeleteYour cake turned out so well!
ReplyDelete@ janis - Thank you! But I can honestly only take partial credit. I did more dishwashing/moral supporting than actual baking. I was basically providing the kitchen space and an extra set of hands!
ReplyDeleteAwww, I wonder if my dog would like icing. She's pretty anti-food unless it's meat or good dog food. She passes on Milkbones, the snob!
ReplyDeleteI second @Naurnie.
ReplyDeleteThe wedding cake looks soooo pretty. And I LOVE Circe. xo.
