It was a seriously hot weekend. The kind where you feel like you're walking through molasses, and everything seems to slow down. The kind where you look back and try to figure out what exactly you managed to get done, besides sweating and then taking multiple showers.
I ate an entire watermelon (and a honeydew) from our CSA box.
I organized my lace.
I worked, quite a bit.
We ate quiche (recipe here) and pears.
I walked at dusk, which is one of my favorite things to do. It must be the voyeur in me, but I love seeing the lights switch on inside the houses, and seeing people's shadows move behind the windows. It's so cozy.
I hope none of you SoCal readers melted! I'm crossing my fingers for fall weather soon.
I absolutely agree. I love driving by lit-up windows in the early night and seeing TVs flicking on or curtains being pulled. Very cozy!
ReplyDeleteDusk is my favorite time of day! I feel at most myself at this time. I agree that it's nice to walk in the evening and see the home lights twinkling in the distance!
ReplyDeletei clearly worked way too much myself this weekend (on our place) since i didn't even know it was all that hot. we had the ac on full blast the entire time!
ReplyDeleteThat quiche looks absolutely delicious! What a yummy weekend meal.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful photo, at dusk. it's cold here...fall has arrived. 50 degrees today and rainy. time for pumpkin chai.

I also love walking at dusk....can't wait for cooler weather here in So Cal though....:)
ReplyDeleteI'm crossing my fingers for fall-ish weather here in socal too!!
ReplyDeleteWe also ate an entire watermelon from our CSA - its so refreshing when it feels like its the dead of summer here!
That watermelon is seriously making my mouth water. Looks like a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteKnow what doesn't happen at our house? Organizing lace. Because that would involve multiple kinds of lace. And then it would involve organization. So kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite sights in the whole world is the way my home looks at that time of day- or even after it's dark. We have a big palladian style window in the living room and the room is painted in a sandy gold finish that absorbs the light (thank you matte finish paint) and just glows once we turn on the lamps. It just looks so cozy and homey- and it's MY home. I'm with you on the cozy time of day thing.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got a lot done. I'm knee deep in another pettiskirt project. Always.
I guess I'm a voyeur too! ;) Love walking at that time of day. Sooo happy it cooled off today, did a photo session in downtown Fullerton yesterday afternoon and we were busting out the oil blotters left and right!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a PERFECT weekend! We got a watermelon in our csa too, and i'm not exagerating when i say it was the best I've ever tasted!
ReplyDeleteMmm watermelon! I think i could eat a whole one too. Plus that quiche looks so good. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in England I used to love peering into basement flats when I walked by. You'd get the feel of the whole room, plus you'd sometimes see people's feet moving around or sitting in front of the sofa watching tv. I think voyeurism is in everyone. :)
ReplyDeleteWow. What gorgeous lace. Beautiful. And that last picture... so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one who could polish off a watermelon! It looks so refreshing considering I woke up to temperatures in the 50s this morning... hellooo fall!
ReplyDeleteYou can get our fall-weather. It is cold. Cold as in snow actually.
ReplyDeletei love taking a walk or a drive at dusk too... my ultimate favorite is getting a glimpse of people having dinner in their dining rooms...strange??
ReplyDeleteLOVE your lace collection :)
ReplyDeleteSOOO glad it's cooling down here!
xo. danni
Oh how lucky to still have sunshine - bliss! I also love dusk, there's just something so cozy and soothing about everything winding down for the evening...
