We had two family birthdays and lots of driving around.

I checked on the progress of this year's avocado crop and the pups helped. They know that the avocados that fall on the ground belong to them so they have a vested interest. It's going to be at least a month before we can pick any, but I'm already looking forward to it.

We all took advantage of the spike in temperature and spent a lot of the weekend outside, but it didn't stop us from using the fireplace briefly. We're pretending it's fall. The weather might not be cooperating, but the light certainly feels right.

  1. Avocado crop! That's one of those things that seems crazy foreign to me here in the northeast, where it's starting to get chilly and avocados come only from the grocery store.

    1. Well, our variety is different from what you get in the grocery store, so we have to wait till December or January for them to be ready! They take forever to get big enough for harvest, so I feel like I spend six months of the year watching them and then a frenzied two months of the year devouring them.

  4. that fire looks so cozy. i wish we had a working fireplace but alas, it's just for looks and we can only fake a fire with pillar candles.

    1. Same here! We just use my parents' fireplace whenever we're around to make up for all the lost fires. Someday maybe we'll have one ...
