Purchases - workout pants + make up

Make up from Korres (mineral foundation, illuminating powder, mango lip butter)

korres

Tristan recommended the mineral foundation and I've learned to take her recommendations seriously. I got a sample from Sephora to test it out and then a coupon came up on Gilt for $50 for $30. I'm not sure this was the smartest move for me, because the foundation is $28 and I didn't need the other two items that I purchased to get up to $50, but I'm happy to have them.

Four pairs of workout pants

new workout pants

I forgot to put these on my list last week, but they were on my mental list. I bought two pairs of Lululemon pants last year, realized that my long suffering sweat pants were not adequate workout pants but then couldn't bring myself to suck it up and pay the (exorbitant) price for another few pairs. I'd been dragging my heels and hoping to find a decent substitute and then Frontrunner's had these on 60% off over the weekend. I got all four pairs for about $10 more than a single pair of Lululemon pants would have cost and they are just as good. One week of workout pants is all I need, so I can happily check that off my list.

  2. Oh, I KNOW what you mean about work out pants, but Lulumon last FOREVER. I am excited that you got the make-up and hope it doesn't disappoint. If you got it at Sephora if you don't like it they will take it back without any questions:)

    1. I went and got a sample of the foundation the same week you posted about it! I love that Sephora will make you a little sample of whatever I want. I used it for a week, and decided I definitely was ready to buy it. Although I've found that exfoliating + moisturizing is super critical with this foundation. Otherwise my dry skin ends up looking a little flaky.

I'm still using that L'Oreal mascara you recommended a couple years ago as well. You're the best.

    1. Jules, the Lululemons are pretty great, but they run small! If you can try them on a store, that's the best, but if you order them online you'll want to order up a bit. I was surprised by it. And they're shockingly expensive. I'll just warn you.

    1. The foundation is nice, although very different from regular liquid foundation. I have super dry skin, so I may be an aberration, but I have to pay more attention to exfoliating and moisturizing with this foundation. I now exfoliate a couple times a week (I used to be really lazy about this). I moisturize before I put the foundation on and I use a brush to apply it. It looks a little powder-y to me at first, but it wears so well throughout the day. I love it. But I'd definitely recommend getting a sample first if you can.

Oh, and they also only have four shades to choose from, which I can't imagine really serves the whole population. I use the palest one, and I'm just lucky that it seems to match really well.

  5. I too have a hard time feeling like I can throw down Benjamins for workout pants. These GAP workout pants are my fave, though, it looks like you've fared pretty well with the Frontrunner sale.

    1. Thanks, Elle! I'll keep those in mind, although hopefully I won't have to buy any more pants for a while! I wonder if they have a cropped version. For some reason I really can't stand full length pants while I work out, so I always either get the cropped ones or hem the long ones up into a crop style.

  6. I also bought the gilt deal for korres! I am in love with their products! Next time you want to try something of theirs, I recommend the milk proteins foaming cleanser. It takes off all my make up and doesnt try you out. Its amazing!

    1. Oh, I wish I'd known that! It probably would have been a smarter way to use up the rest of my credit! I'll keep it in mind for the future.

    1. I've never used bare esscentuals, but hopefully someone more experienced will chime in here. The Korres is actually the very first mineral makeup I've ever tried.

    2. Thanks for the lowdown on the Korres mineral foundation. I use BareEsscentuals mineral powder and while I love the long lasting and evening-out qualities, I find it can make my already dry skin look even more dry (kind of like you mentioned with Korres). I think it also slightly irritates my skin, as it can get a bit itchy right after I apply it. I've read that Bare Esscentuals use an added mineral to make it "shimmer" that can be irritating to sensitive skin. Just FYI! I might try Korres next :)

  8. I recently bought the Korres mineral foundation and love it too. I've never worn foundation in the past, and this one feels much more like a powder to me, which is great. Will be interested to hear what you think about the lip balm and illuminating powder.

  9. I like lululemon, but don't not find the quality to meet the price tag. I found bamboo Green Apple yoga pants at TJ maxx for like $15. and can't tell you how pleased I am with them, they are so super soft and fit like they almost girdle you but not in a bad way, if you seen them try them on, amazing!

  10. I can't bring myself to buy lululemon, I need to check these out!

  11. I love Lulu Lemon, a new store just opened near me! I'd love to go and take a look at their stuff, judging by these gorgeous pants you bought :)

  12. I am addicted to Lululemon but hate the price tag... I just discovered Nordstrom's in-house brand, Zella, that is basically the same thing for about 60% of the price. Still $52 for full-length leggings... but not $90, and the same quality.
