My sister and I spent an entire day in our mom's kitchen, baking and making candy.
It's the nicest way to get ready for Christmas, I think.
*Toffee, orangettes and marshmallow recipes are all from Smitten Kitchen, naturally. The sugar cookie dough recipe is from Blueprint.
Those are the prettiest sugar cookies! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteohhh. the orangettes.. they will be dancing in my head all day.
ReplyDeleteso lovely. that's in the plans for us today, too!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I don't know what Orangettes are . . . but they look delicious!
ReplyDeletesounds like a wonderful time together. i so want to make marshmallows.
ReplyDeleteMmm everything looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteyummy! I spent my weekend the exact same way with a few different recipes :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been wanting to make marshmallows but haven't had the chance! Did they turn out well? (I'm guessing yes, because it was Deb's recipe and all the things you make always look lovely and/or delicious.)
ReplyDeleteThey are stunning! Looks like such a fun holiday activity.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Christmas without some homemade cookies and candy! I'm doing that today!
ReplyDeleteWow-you MADE marshmallows?! Mighty ambitious of you...unless they are really easy to make (I'm never made them before).
ReplyDeleteCheers to the perfect way to prepare for the season:)
oh, looks like fun. especially with a sister!
ReplyDeleteKristy, the marshmallows were amazing! I'd tried Martha Stewart's recipe years ago and it seemed like so much more work. Deb's recipe was perfect. Just read all her instructions.
ReplyDeleteRuth, orangettes are so delicious! You take fresh orange peels (super fresh for us, because our parents have a beautiful orange tree), candy them in simple syrup and then dip them in chocolate (not pictured). They are citrus-y and tart and sweet and the tiniest bit bitter, all at the same time.
Sounds perfect!!
ReplyDeleteyum, those all look amazing, especially the sugar cookies!
ReplyDeletethose cookies look so yummy!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, cookie making is always such a sweet tradition!
ReplyDeletethose orangettes! i wish we'd known about that recipe when we'd chuck peels at halftime at my soccer matches.
ReplyDeleteI AM GOING TO MAKE THE f out of those orangettes! and every one will be SO IMPRESSED with me.
ReplyDeleteTOFFEE! i made toffee too this weekend. it is soooo delicious.
ReplyDeleteOrangettes are the loveliest. Good work, lady!
ReplyDeleteYour sugar cookies look so perfect! I can't wait to do some holiday baking.
ReplyDeleteY'all are awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo impressive! What a fabulous way to spend a day!
ReplyDeleteI'm starting my baking tomorrow! So happy!
ReplyDeleteoh hey! I made those marshmallows last weekend too! Aren't they great? I really think the egg whites make them fluffier. Yum
