I've been slammed this week. Between real work, the shop and the upcoming holidays, it's hard to keep up with everything. I never made it to the store to pick out flowers, but D surprised me with these sweet yellow tulips and the footed glass vase (thrifted, naturally), which I love.
We have big plans this weekend (a couple of family parties), and I know we'll be very, very busy. But I'm making little promises to myself. I will make time for my first pot of Christmas tea this season, I will give myself at least one hour to sit quietly and read, and I will keep the house clean. It's so hard to feel relaxed and focused when my living space falls into chaos.
It's so hard this time of year! I hope you find some quiet moments to relax and revel.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what your Christmas tea is like ... ? Is it spicy? How do you make it?
ReplyDeleteJust lovely - how thoughtful of him!! Have a lovely weekend! I hope you find some time to relax!
ReplyDeletei totally agree... when things start to get crazy and non-stop, it can be so overwhelming. but i love your idea of making small promises to yourself!
ReplyDeleteit's so important to spend time on the little, relaxing things in life. i keep reminding myself to do the same!
ReplyDeletesuch sweet flowers! this time of year is so busy--i've got one more week of paper-writing and then i intend to take some quiet time for myself. i'm also wondering about your christmas tea. what kind do you use? it's gotten so cold here in ky that having a cup of tea in my hands is vital to keeping my fingers in working order.
ReplyDeletei hope you have a fun weekend with a good balance of busy-ness and quiet moments.
how nice of D. i hope you do get some time to yourself. and it's amazing how much better it feels when the house is clean.
ReplyDeleteYes, please tell us what goes into Christmas Tea!
ReplyDeletebeautiful photo... gorgeous bed and flowers. Nice place to wake up!
ReplyDeletethrifting men are the best kind. enjoy your first pot of tea, and have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh, how sweet of him! I was drooling over tulips last night, haha.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you're able to find some quiet time to yourself this weekend! We've got a busy one ourselves.

ReplyDeletehow sweet for the boy to bring you flowers... in a vase no less! adorable. also, good for you for making time for yourself. the holiday season is for contentment (yes, and also for family), but not for stress!

ReplyDeleteDrink that pot of freshly brewed tea, enjoy each moment, life can change and all the things you worry about become non-worrisome --especially when you have those lovely flowers to remind you just how loved you are!

what a thoughful guy you have. I'm with you on the house cleaning, not I manage to keep mine that way, but when its freshly cleaned it is ridiculous how happy it make me, its a wonder I don't get it back to that more often.
ReplyDeleteI am going to be thrifting for vases this week, possibly. I have two white elephant gifts to get so, naturally, the thrift store is where I go. That or to Target to white elephant some Christmas decorations! :)
ReplyDeleteThose tulips are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am so feeling you on getting swamped -- double boo (one for you, one for me)! But: love that vase. Love tulips, so the surprise is doubly sweet, in my opinion. And I love these promises you're making -- I told myself I'd work from home today so that I wouldn't have to play catch up next week -- and what did I do? Finished + ordered the annual photobook that I give my husband on our anniversary. Except, our anniversasry is in June. And this one spanned 2007-2008. I'm such a rockfest. But have a fab weekend, and keep up all the goodness :)!
ReplyDeletejust simply seeing those yellow tulips makes me feel so relaxed already.
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to put flowers everywhere in the house! Haha. Have a nice day! :)
ReplyDeleteSo true. I'd been in a bit of a slump lately and didn't have the time or energy to clean properly for a couple weeks. Then I took half a day and just got it done, and I feel so much better!
ReplyDeletelove the tulips...hope your weekend has been great!!
