:: notes ::
It was one of my favorite summer weekends - the third annual LA brew crawl (we went to years one and two as well). I love the little bars tucked in random buildings and parking structures downtown as much as I enjoy tasting new beers. Drake's seasonal Aroma Coma was my new favorite, everyone else agreed on Sir Walter's Scottish Ale from Craft Brewing Company.
The rest of the weekend was quiet. We grilled with friends, made multiple meals of nachos with the leftovers, saw a movie at 10 am on Sunday morning and it felt really luxurious. We have so few unscheduled days with no obligations that it makes them that much sweeter.
I've been loving this $4.99 Espiral Vinho rose from Trader Joe's, by the way. It's sweeter than I would normally like but it has a little bit of sparkle and it's completely appealing in the heat. I have to admit that I preferentially look for a screwcap on wine, because D is not a fan and I need the bottle to last several days in the fridge.
a seven grand just opened in san diego and i recently went! what a cool place! also i love the lighting in the las perlas photo! so cute.
ReplyDeleteFun! I didn't know there was more than one!
DeleteSounds like a perfect weekend! I'll have to try that rose from Trader Joe's.. sounds like it would be right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteUgh..these photos are making me crave beer and it's barely noon! Hats off to you and your photography skills :)

i've developed an unconscious penchant for destroying corks and simultaneously lost the ability to open wine with naught but a wooden spoon and determination, so i'm a fan of screwcaps these days as well.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely, relaxing weekend :) I'm getting thirsty for a chilled glass of rose on a sunny terrace right now...
ReplyDeletei'll have to check that out before the summer is over - sounds like a perfect summer wine. a 10 AM movie is luxurious for sure - way to go you guys. treat yo self as tom haverford would say.
ReplyDeleteI love Tom Haverford so much.
Deletei always get that rose and i mix it with some lemon seltzer. does it for me every time.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun for an old lady in the hot midwest to share your fun.
ReplyDeleteThe brew crawl sounds like so much fun. And your photo of the red and yellow lights at Las Perlas is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the perfect thing to rescue me from the blazing heat outside and makes me remember that yes, I actually do love weekend.
