:: notes ::

I've been quiet around here, doing the usual balancing act with life and family and work, not always feeling like saying much.

We've been making a lot of coffee at home. D is determined to master the shakerato. I'm sticking with (decaf) lattes. I like the ritual of it, even if I miss the caffeine. I tried going back to it briefly but quickly remembered why I'm staying away.

We went to an old friend's wedding and spent the evening celebrating and catching up with our high school friends and eating way too many mini bundt cakes (enjoying this trend). The previously lost beloved tie bar found its way home and the guys at Nikolai Rose very generously offered to make it perfect again after it suffered some wear and tear on the dance floor so it was able to make another outing, more securely clipped this time. It looks perfect.

I'm not sure I'll ever get sick of arugula. And I love the way it looks, too.

  1. Oh hello - just caught up with your "no tea" ban - I drink gallons of it, and so went in search of a decent decaf option. There are many terrible versions out there but my first prize goes to Typhoo Decaf tea - worth a go ( I live in the UK - hope it's available in the US - sending you over supplies might be a little pricey). xx

    1. I know you can get the regular Typhoo, so maybe the decaf is available here as well - thanks for the recommendation!

      I'm actually surprised by how I've adjusted to no tea after years of drinking so much of it. I have peppermint tea or ginger tea sometimes (the only herbals I can stand !) but that's about it.

  3. i'm so glad the tie bar rematerialized! confession: i suspected joe would love it as much as D does, but i thought it would be terribly unsporting to give my husband something that yours had loved and lost. now that D's been reunited (and looks quite dapper) with his, i feel like one can be joe's birthday present as well. go go blogger-spouse style!

    1. Yes! It is amazing, just make sure to press it more tightly together than we did the first time.

  4. you've got me wondering all over again just what i'd look like without caffeine. something tells me it'd be an improvement. not sure i'm ready for it. for now, arugula to counter-balance.

    1. Trust me, I wouldn't give it up if I had much of a choice. The difference is way too immediate to be ignored.

  9. Hi Rachel!!! I was looking at the wedding picture and the blue building in the background looks really familiar. Was the wedding by any chance at a church called Immaculate HArt of Mary??

    1. It wasn't, sorry! It was at a Catholic church, though - Holy Family in Orange.
