There was plenty of dessert.
{birthday scene, meringue peaks & birthday cake}
A teeny tiny amount of creative time (although not with the serger, which I don't know how to use - I just love the way it looks).
{serger, thread}
Some very worn out dogs.
{baxter + shauna}
Leftover birthday cake + tea for breakfast. Yum.
{leftover birthday cake}
birthday cake is fun on your actual special day, but nothing beats having it for breakfast the next morning. looks like such an indulgently perfect weekend. x
ReplyDeletedid you make that birthday cake? it's stunningly gorgeous, as are all those desserts!
ReplyDeleteyour desserts always look so effortlessly put-together! i love the flower idea on the birthday cake and that little dish with the green pattern! darling.
ReplyDeleteI do not think there is anything better than birthday cake for breakfast. I agree with Olivia, by the way- that cake is absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeletelooks like a *sweet* weekend! Those meringue peaks make me hungary :-)
ReplyDeleteWow. Love that cake with the flowers! Such a great idea. But the sleeping dogs take the cake, literally. Is Shauna a Malamute? She looks so much like my Huskie:)
ReplyDeleteOoh, yes, leftover cake always makes the best breakfast! Bonus points if it's frosted and super-indulgent...I love taking a ridiculously sinful break from oatmeal every so often.
ReplyDeleteMM plenty of sweets! I hope your Monday break was well too!
ReplyDeleteoooh nothing better than leftover birthday cake!
ReplyDeleteMmm all those cakes look divine!
ReplyDeletenobody inspires me to bake (and to make magnificent towers of baked things) quite like you do, rachel. congrats to the grad and birthday folk!
ReplyDeletelove the flowers around the cake! they add so much elegance to a chocolate cake!
ReplyDelete@ everyone - I can't take credit for any of the gorgeous desserts! The pies were made by my mom (rhubarb-strawberry for my sis, lemon meringue for me) and the beautiful cake was made by my stepmom.
ReplyDeletere: dogs - Shauna belongs to my Dad and stepmom, and she's Alaskan malamute and Siberian husky. Baxter is a foster dog they are taking care of while he recovers from hip surgery (poor thing!) and he's a Rottweiler-Labrador mix.
"There was plenty of dessert."
ReplyDeleteThis is why we get along, you and me. The assessment of social gatherings by the presence of baked goods.
Also, Shauna is striking. Not as cute as Circe, but beautiful in a Diana-Goddess-of-the-Hunt way.
hmm cake for breakfast = amazing!
ReplyDeleteBirthday cake is the best breakfast. Now I want to make cake. I can never find the right icing. I don't like the sickly sweet, forms into a hard shell icing. I want something that stays light.
ReplyDeleteBest breakfast ever! Beautiful photos, as always.
ReplyDeleteMmm everything looks so yummy especially the breakfast tea and cake
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers on the cake - how lovely!
ReplyDeletethat second photo is delightful!
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day :)

ReplyDeletelove your shots!
ReplyDeleteand now i want dessert! and dogs! in that order!
Your deserts look delicious and gives me the inspiration to actually learn how to bake. I am not quite so good in the kitchen. As always, your photos tell their own story. Thanks for the post.
