Friday flowers (double dose)

Huge Easter bouquet (yes, I have pictures of the entire thing, but I like this lopped off one best).

And simple rust red ranunculus for the apartment (in the most adorable 1/4 liter jar that I found at the thrift store a while ago).

The week in review:

(+)
polished off an entire jar of cornichons in 1 hour, no sharing
made earnest headway on my taxes
had real cream (leftover from easter) in my tea every morning

(-)
found a huge lump on Circe's side - we're collectively freaking out*
(benign tumors are very common in dogs, so we are trying to stay calm)
haven't cooked a single meal this week - too tired
realized how much I might owe in taxes, head started to explode

*It's actually hard to detect the freaking out stage in my family because we're pretty stoic in general. No one cries (much) or shouts or runs around in a panic. We get quiet, we eat a bit less and clean a bit more and sleep as much as possible. Basically, we would make the worst candidates ever for a reality television show.

  2. I frequently eat jars of cornichons, particularly when things are a little rocky. Sending good thoughts and tiny, warty pickles your way.

  3. I hope the lump turns out to be nothing. Hang in there and think good throughts. The beautiful flowers will help you stay positive...I hope :) And I wish I had a bit of the hard to detect freak out in me, mine is all on the outside freak out, eat more, cry and scream.

  11. I wish I were stoic when freaking out. I'm just a freak when freaking out.

Prayers for your doggy. We just had a one pound benign tumor removed from our 10 year old lab so hopefully yours will be a harmless lump.

  12. If it's any consolation, I own a Wheaten terrier and he has many strange lumps that are quite large. (He's 9 years old). They are a little gross when you feel them, but our vet assured us that they were nothing to be too concerned about. They can be drained/removed, but we don't do it unless there is reason other than cosmetic because the vet is never cheap! Good luck, I hope your pup is ok!

  13. sending good thoughts for your pup. our dog is one of my biggest joys, and i can imagine how terrifying this is. and you're right - benign tumors are common. try to keep that at the forefront of your mind...

  14. aww i hope circe is okay... :[

we owed a ton in taxes this year. made me a little depressed. but we cut our losses & moved on. S likes to think that it's better off that way, because we don't get taxed on that amount throughout the year. maybe, but it still feels horrible haha.

  17. Thinking happy thoughts for Circe! My dog Rosie gets those little lumps, too. The first was a bit scary, but thankfully, everything came back fine. I'm sure Circe will be a-okay. :o)

    Beautiful flowers! :o)

  18. The flowers are lovely and cornichons are delicious, but oh poor puppy! I hope everything is okay!

  19. i'm sure circe has many happy years ahead despite a possible tumor. so many dogs are riddled with lumps and keep plugging away anyway. best wishes! my family is kinda like that too, in being very quiet about our emotions.

  20. For my family's dogs, more often than not it turns out that they're just fatty lumps, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Love that Easter bouquet too. :)

  23. My dog has a benign tumor about the size of a softball...sucks that it happens, but be comforted by the fact that he isn't bothered by it at all and is still a very happy dog!

  24. I treat myself to real cream in my tea every day. A friend of mine introduced me to that a year or two ago, and I haven't looked back since.

My dog gets fatty lumps. I hope that's the case with Circe, too.

Here's to hoping you have a good weekend - one that involves many cornichons and little cleaning.

    warmly,
    -maria

  25. my family of drama queens, on the other hand, would be PERFECT candidates for a reality tv show. i'm hoping and praying that circe is ok!

  31. Your Circe looks exactly like our Sydney! Syd is 12 years old and as frisky as pup, but he does have several benign tumors now - one very large behind his left front leg. Vet says not to worry, though, like your family, we got depressed, anxious and worried and still do from time to time just because he means so much to us.

So best wishes that it is benign. Knowing that won't stop you from worrying a little, but it will lift most of doom and gloom. Just seeing them frolic about as wire foxes do, reminds you that they must be doing okay. Who has that much energy when sick? Our thoughts and positive energy are with you and your family.

  32. Crossing my fingers for your fam's pup! My dogs have all had similar lumps in the past. Nerve-wracking :(.

  34. my parent's wiener doggy just had a lump removed from his side last year. Yeah, it was pretty gross. but the vet said it could of been anything, a fatty lump, an infected scratch/or old spider bite. lots of stuff could of gotten in it when your tummy is only 4 inches off the ground. lol. I wouldn't worry....i told my parents it was one of two things, either his under developed twin trying to burst through his stomach wall, or an alien hatching. :-P
