1. Freshly arranged, in just home from work light.
2. Same day, 28 minutes later, in sharp shadows of early evening light.
3. After three days, minus four minutes, drooping but still beautiful.
{tulips, map}
*edited to add sources of various things - the footed glass vase is from the thrift store (probably not really vintage, but one of my faves), the clock was a lucky flea market find (even though it picks up time quickly and we have to adjust it every couple weeks), the various ceramics are all made by D, including the awesome faux-styrofoam cup you can just barely see in the last picture, holding pencils, the map was purchased at a vintage store in Prague.
i love this series, especially with the clock and shadows to show the changing time! the drooping tulips still look lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful!! Wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeletethe last photo came as a gorgeous surprise
ReplyDeletei love all the accompaniments on your banquette/dresser. i totally want to know where they all came from. all vintage?
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful.
ReplyDeletedroopy tulips are as sad as droopy lupines in the spring - i just want to lift them up and say LIVE FOREVER!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletetulips! ahh. so easy on the eye. i'm terribly jealous.
ReplyDeletei agree, still beautiful when dangling.
as per usual, love the vase and photos!
i need to get some tulips for my place. they're the quintessential flower for spring and so pretty.
ReplyDeletei like how you found the beauty in the drooping when normally we'd think drooping flowers are rubbish.
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing at flower arrangements! We're doing our own flowers for our wedding and I keep getting great ideas from you! Maybe you could post a tutorial someday. :)
ReplyDeletei love the insides of them, so cool. i really, really love your friday flowers!

i love this whole series.
ReplyDelete@ Michelle - Thanks! I went back just now and edited the post to give the sources of all the bits and pieces. Clock, vase and map were thrift store/flea market finds. All ceramics were made by Dustin years ago.
ReplyDelete@ Thao - thank you! You're way too sweet. I have absolutely no real floral expertise, but I'd be happy to do a post at some point on my general method of arranging. It's dead simple, because I don't have the experience necessary to do anything complicated!
ReplyDeletemight have to agree with jamie; perhaps my favorite friday flowers yet simply because it's about the tulips as signs of the passage of time. and such rich light! the last one would make a killer still life painting...
ReplyDeleteTulips are beautiful until the very end...
ReplyDeleteExcellent!! the clock is perfect. The droopy tulips are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThey look so pretty open and droopy! Love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteNext time you do this, you should switch out all the items around the flowers for each photo.
So cute.
I'm drooling! It's all just perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound crazy, but have you ever thought of selling (or even trading) the occasional thrifted find on here? You're eye is fantastic and some of us live in less-fortunate places for thrifting.
Or, do you know of any good websites that aren't too expensive? Other than the obvious, Ebay.
I'm a sucker for flowers... these tulips are GORGEOUS!! I've heard that putting ice in the vase helps with the drooping. Sounds crazy but I've seen it work. I think it's just tulips though.
ReplyDeleteBeatriz.

gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the map, and the droopy tulips. :)
Try putting a penny in the bottom of the vase. It will help the tulips last longer :)
ReplyDeleteI love tulips and these pictures are so pretty! That clock is awesome! It reminds me of a clock my grandma had in her house. :)
ReplyDeletei love how tulips change and get all slouchy. love this friday flowers update! i want that cup!!
