Whole Foods calls this
million star, which is much more attractive than
baby's breath. Unless they are actually different plants. I don't know these things.
I do know that they look lovely in the late afternoon light. They're sitting in some brown glass bottles that I love. They're chemical bottles from my lab, and when I'm finished with them I soak them and scrub them and bring them home. I never get tired of labware.
We have a long weekend here, so I'll be crafting and lounging and hopefully not melting into a puddle from all the heat. I'll see you all on Tuesday, my dears.
Love the lab bottles.

what lovely afternoon light! and what a great stack of ribbon!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous light. Labware is too cool. And the fact that you're a scientist. That's rad, too.
ReplyDeleteit's funny what a big difference a name can make...million star sounds so whimsical and pretty. oh and i love how you balanced out such a delicate flower with tough labware. very cool.
ReplyDeleteI love them! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBaby's breath is a common name that people call them. It's Gypsophila and million star is its variety, a much prettier name for it I think :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a glass nut - bottles of all kinds. so I really love those. beautiful shots - enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeletewhatever they're called, they're beautiful. i like the juxtaposition of their little cuteness with the big heavy bottles.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Have an equally gorgeous weekend Rachel!
ReplyDeletebeautiful! have a nice long weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot. And yes that's a much better name than 'Baby's Breath'.
ReplyDeleteMillion star is the variety of baby's breath with the tiny blossoms. Can I buy some lab bottles from you? They are beautiful!
ReplyDeletei thought they were beer bottles at first sight but lab bottles are equally cool.
ReplyDeletesuch a lovely amber colour in the light. and the bottle do look great with the blooms...somehow gyp looks so sweet on it's own like that. have a wonderful long weekend!
ReplyDeletestunningly warm... happy weekend!
ReplyDeletehow pretty!
ReplyDeleteHere in Denmark we call these flowers "Bridal Veil" which I think is so perfect for their resemblance to a flowery lace :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your blog btw, just discovered it :-)
beautiful! simple and elegant. thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the name that WF gave these flowers! Beautiful! Have a lovely, enjoyable long weekend!
ReplyDeleteMillion stars is infinetly better than babys breath. And I love using simple bottles like that for flowers. It makes everything so simple and almost magical. =D
ReplyDeleteSweet flowers and I love the lab bottles as vases what a neat idea. They look lovely glowing in the light. Enjoy your long weekend and the lovely heat - so lucky to have the sun still!
ReplyDeleteLove the bottles!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flowers and photos! Who would have known labware could look so fantastic with flowers?
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you Rachel!
Wow, you make such simple objects look absolutely fab together. Gorgeous setting!
ReplyDeleteThose are GORGEOUS! I am definetly going to Whole Foods tomorrow and getting some million star (i like saying that, it sounds pretty).
ReplyDeleteOooo... ready access to labware? Awesome!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing all the different vessels you save and use as vases, I've finally been doing that lately too with all the glass bottles we accumulate. The best are the more traditional-looking glass milk bottles from a local creamery we buy from, which does not have a bottle return program. Sweet!
million star is sooo much better than baby's breath! and those lab bottles totally glam the blooms up a bit. who knew a "filler" flower could look so chic? :)
ReplyDeletehappy labor day weekend!
Love these!! The million star looks so cute in the brown bottles... I'm an extreme bottle saver too...
ReplyDeleteMillion Starts is such a great name.. I'm declaring the person who thought that up as brilliant!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog and I love the flower posts. I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with flowers this year so I love a great photo of what others are doing with them. Not to mention the lab bottles are pretty spectacular.
I love the lab bottles! Especially with those flowers in them. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteIn Sweden too, we call those flowers Bride's veil. Love your pictures, and love the light, always so amazing.
ReplyDeleteThose photos are really beautiful. I love all the ribbon.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I'm not the only one who steals unwanted glassware from lab and uses it at home...
ReplyDeleteLight Years
ReplyDeleteThere are more
than one million stars in a single
exhalation of
the baby's breath I can still
recall from a universe away but still
warm and as close as my own
milky nipple, in the same milky way
poetry gives two sounds to the same
unspeakably beautiful
perfume
Lab stuff is so very awesome. Happy long weekend!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shot you got there of the lovely little flowers in that brown lab bottle. With the help of a little creeping natural light... it looks so nice.
ReplyDeletethose bottles are fabulous! as is million star, whatever that may be..
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I just love the way the softness of those flowers looks in the bottles--so genius!
