Friday flowers
Peonies are here! I made a beeline for the them in TJs on Monday and I've been enjoying them all week ($6.99 for 5 gorgeous stems). I love watching as they open up and get even more ruffly. They are in a glass jar that does double duty (it can be a vase or a juice pitcher).
There is my dining room table, which I did not clean for this picture, in an effort to be honest. No, I don't use my iron on the table. It's just sitting there, waiting to be put away. Although I would really like to be able to iron directly on the table because it is so much larger than the puny ironing board. Is there some kind of cover I could use to make that possible without ruining my beloved table?
if im in a hurry i sometimes iron on the floor or table on a towel. not sure how safe that is but it works for me. surely there has to be some kind of cute cover out there somewhere!
ReplyDeleteanyway pretty flowers and great deal!
These flowers are SO beautiful! What a bargain buy too! Well done.
ReplyDeleteI love the honesty of the picture :) Such beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Ruffly ruffly. Gorgeous. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I'm going to treat myself to some. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of getting fresh flowers every Friday. I love getting flowers for my apartment, it really brightens up the space and puts a smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a TJs here or the stores sold peonies - so gorgeous
ReplyDeleteOh peonies. Why are you so very lovely?
ReplyDeleteI bought peonies yesterday too! I cannot stop sniffing at them, touching them, marveling at them. I also love the light in this pic!
ReplyDeleteOur dining chairs are pretty much identical. Just in case you were wondering :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, fresh flowers can make any room so much nicer.
they are gorgeous and smell so good too!
ReplyDeletePeonies are my ABSOLUTE favourite flowers, hands down! So gorgeous to look at and to sniff. :) Mine have not even broken through the soil yet. It's been a long winter! Maybe in 3 or 4 weeks I will have some of these beauties for my own table.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I bet if you made some sort of slightly cushioned cover for the table (with fire-retardant fabric or whatever would be necessary) that it would work. Also, ironing on the table instead of the ironing board is ingenious. I might investigate the possibility of this...
ReplyDeletemuch love of peony season. ::sigh:: wish we had tj's here. this morning I admired peonies at a florists for more like $6 per!
ReplyDeleteLove that you are being honest- life is too short for contant staging, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty. Mine are just starting.
beauties.
ReplyDeletethe towel is the best. had to board for years and my roomie and I always threw a beach towel on the coffee table. I actually prefer it to our stupid board and may toss ours...lol!
ReplyDeletemake that 'had NO board' fried-day...
ReplyDeletePeonies are my fav!
ReplyDeleteI use a towel folded in half, works great. Your flowers are beautiful! Have a great weekend!

A folded sheet works great for ironing on a table top. Your peonies are gorgeous! I'm hoping Whole Foods has finally gotten a shipment because my dining table is begging for them.
ReplyDeleteI bought the pink ones at Trader Joe's on Monday! They emerged from those small round buds and are now falling on the table, love them
ReplyDeleteWow, 5 for $6.99? I should go to Trader Joe's! I'm astonished by the price. If I find peonies for $5 each at the locals florists I'm surprised - they are usually more expensive in my area.
ReplyDeleteAnd your are so beautiful!
these are my favorite flowers and as a bonus i happen to have 3 huge patches of different colors in my flower garden just waiting to bloom!
ReplyDeletesuch pretty, pretty photos. happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteYou can buy table covers that are heat proof. They are a hard mat and go under table cloths. Try one of those!
ReplyDeleteAh I just posted a blog about peonies the other day too. I actually work at Trader Joes and I love just looking at all the peonies. So beautiful. When the ones I have expire, I will definitely buy another bunch. Can't beat the price, plus I get a discount.
ReplyDeleteIdea: make a cover using Insul-bright (heat-reflecting batting that they usually keep up at the cutting counter) and maybe another layer of batting under it.
ReplyDelete$7 for peonies. Everyone grows them here but no one sells them. Boo.
Wish your florist delivered to London:) I've heard of people who use blankets on tables or one can buy double-width boards, but that's really hardcore ironing.

ReplyDeletePeonies always make me smile!
ReplyDeleteYour peonies are so beautiful and I can't believe how cheap they were. They cost a bomb in Australia, but I might treat myself when they are in season here. Thanks for your kind words on my blog too.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Catherine x
Oh i love, love, love peonies. Gorgeous! So refreshing to see an unstyled, very honest photo on a blog.
ReplyDeleteThey are a beautiful colour! Peonies are my absolute favourite.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, I love peonies along with the real photo of your table. Mine often looks like that, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you need to add flowers to your index...
ReplyDeleteI <3 your index!!
