I am also trying to reduce our grocery bill and love beans (vegetarian husband :-P ) I just started buying dried beans, also in an effort to reduce waste (I buy them from a bulk bin from my local co-op and bring my own reusable bag to put them in). They are $1.99/lb. and a pound makes about 5 cans worth of cooked beans. I follow the method from the blog Annie's Eats to cook them, but I'm sure just Googling will work. It's a great way to save money! I also like this recipe (http://www.annies-eats.com/2014/06/16/spicy-black-bean-tacos/) from the same blog. I make a pound of beans at a time on a weekend and freeze them in mason jars (same size as a can). Then either put them in the fridge in the morning, or defrost them in the microwave.

Good luck with the grocery bill! I've been buying the refried and black beans for ages but the giant baked beans are news to me. I will definitely pick those up next time I brave the lines at Trader Joes! It did remind me of a few articles that I've seen about tj and whole foods basically having the same suppliers but tj comes through correct with the better pricing. http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Who-s-making-Trader-Joes-food-brand-relationships-6680520.phpJennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10859261997697353591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1452621549434169941.post-55747151461467899772017-05-04T13:59:50.610-07:002017-05-04T13:59:50.610-07:00Beans are a great place to start!
