Book signing

It's particularly gratifying to see someone you adore make it into print.

Julie and I have been nerding out over English together since middle school and she was in town a couple weeks ago for a reading of her first novel (!).

Dear Lucy signing with @juliesarkissian! So proud of you, lady!

I devoured Dear Lucy as soon as I could get my hands on a copy. The voices are strong and compelling, the story is unusual and a bit magical. I don't want to say too much about it, but let me tell you, one of the characters is a talking chicken named Jennifer. I think that's all you really need to know.

  1. would it be, say, a good book for a girl on a plane?

that is the best imaginable name for a talking chicken. hooray for friends and their books!

i am fond of that cover, as well. nicely done, cover...ers.

    1. Definitely absorbing enough to distract from plane related annoyances.

I like the cover too! Which is lucky because I'm pretty sure the author never gets any say, so Jules could have ended up with anything!

  2. Ha! Funny, small world. Julie was a few years behind me in grade school and lived a canyon over from me in Orange County. Her Mom and my Mom were in a book group together for many years. Did you go to Santiago? I'm looking forward to reading her book!

  4. It meant so much to have you there, Rach, and to have you as an early reader of the book. Thanks for much for making the trip to Pasadena in rush hour. Next time I'm in town I will come to you guys. Lots of love from Brooklyn.
