Best things I bought in 2011

boots!
{boots!}

These skinny jeans.

These super soft tee shirts + tanks.

These flat boots.

Add a cardigan and you basically have my day uniform for the entire year. I know it's boring. It has made such a huge difference, though. Having everyday boots is sort of a revelation.

It's interesting to look back, because I don't always correctly guess which purchases are going to get the most use. My goal is always to purchase the fewest number of things that will get maximum use/enjoyment. In that spirit, I've been trying to evaluate my wardrobe and decide what pieces I could really use this year. And I have the newest form of the shopping hiatus rattling around in my head, ready to be posted soon.

  1. Those tees look amazing, I have a long torso too, I'll have to check them out

  2. Boo, they only have white and charcoal in stock in the tanks. I totally feel you on this post - I've almost stopped buying new casual clothes, because I feel most myself in the outfit you described - basic skinny jeans, v-neck tee, boots/flats, and a cardigan if it's chilly. I can't be bothered to deal with trends, so why mess with the basics?

    1. So sad! I'm sure they'll re-stock soon. And if you have a Whole Foods near you, you might be able to just buy them in person, which is what I did when I first wanted to try them out.

    2. Good call. I abhor clothes shopping in person, but I live in West LA so I suppose I could drive the 3 miles or so to the nearest WF :-)

    3. Yes, I'm not big on clothes shopping, which is actually why I bought these in the first place! If I can pick it up while I'm buying groceries, it somehow feels less annoying.

  3. I was JUST thinking that I needed some more tanks, and then I remembered that you had mentioned some that you really liked, but I couldn't find the link. Now here we are!

  4. Shopping hiatus! I need that, asap...or some inspiration for one, at least.

  5. Everyday boots are absolutely a revelation. I recently purchased a pair of gorgeously perfect flat riding boots with Nike Air in the soles. It's like I never want to wear any other shoe. I don't blame you for the uniform! Cute, practical, and comfortable.

  6. I feel like our shopping habits are so similar. I'm thinking I need to add a nice, new purse this year. And maybe some of those shirts you mention?

    1. I have a clutch on my list this year, I think. I have two awesome purses that are high quality (one medium, one large) but I could use something smaller for barhopping. And then I'll be done with buying bags, I swear!

  7. So with you on all of the above. Right before Christmas I bought myself the Fryes I've been saving up for since the beginning of the year, and I wear them EVERY SINGLE DAY. There comes a point in one's adult life that a gal realizes it's better to get the real, beautifully-made, long-lasting one Thing instead of the cheap, doesn't-actually-really-fit-as-well multiple Things.

    Your Anthro boots are heavenly.

    1. @ Lily - so true. Except my F21 jeans sort of fail on the quality category. But maybe not? We're approaching a year of nearly daily wear and those suckers are holding up with the best of them.

A pair of Fryes is definitely something I dream about. Because even though we're trying to reduce quantity, it seems reasonable to have two pairs of boots, I think. So that I'm not wearing the same pair every single day.

  8. I definitely have F21 jeans that have never faded or fallen apart. And if they do. They were only $10!

    1. Yes, they are so great! I was really not expecting them to last the way they have. It seems like a miracle.

  9. Looking back, I love the part about not buying something on sale if you wouldn't buy it full price. Love those boots. Who are they by?

    1. I'll check for you later! I'm not sure they have a brand on them, though. I couldn't even find them online right after I bought them!

  10. Any specific cardigan brand you swear by? I need to expand my colors, but I have trouble finding the perfect cardigan!

  11. Those are really cute basic flat grey boots... hard to find. Thanks for sharing.
