Weekend notes:

:: A gifted bag of freshly picked apples. We used them for a crisp.

:: After a long week of heat, this weekend felt a little bit more like fall. The light is changing and I love watching it, even though it's one of the hardest effects to capture accurately.

:: This drink is the simplest + most amazing I've had lately. We meant to make them over the summer, but the summer totally got away from me this year.

  8. Ah! So beautiful. This weekend we had homemade golden muscadine wine with a touch of habanero...not the same, but reminds me of it. Your "lounging" shot is beautiful!

  13. @ Buccaneers and Ball Gowns - Yes! I have all of them and re-read them obsessively. Also, that entire bookcase is basically devoted to my (overwhelming) collection of mysteries in general. What you can't see is that every single shelf is at least double stacked, so there are books hiding behind books. It's an addiction.

@ Naurnie - You have to make the habanero tequila, but it's so easy it's laughable and it only takes about an hour. DO IT.

  19. If you have Aperol on hand it adds just a little something great to the grapefruit margarita! I call it the Hot and Sassy :)

And a tip for anyone making the tequila: taste it for heat starting after an hour. I've had a batch that took an hour and was just a tad too spicy (but you can just add some regular tequila to calm it down) and another batch that took over 2 hours and was perfect! All depends on the chilies!
