Random makeup love

I bought Covergirl's Outlast lip stain a month or so ago and I officially love it.

The first time, I drew it straight on like I was using a marker and I looked like a clown for hours. It comes out dark. I have shade 440, wild berry wink, and I actually love the color, but the saturation was a bit much.

I have the hang of it now. Dot it on lightly, using the very tip of the marker. Rub in each dot immediately, because it dries almost instantly. Very lightly outline your lips, doing just a tiny area at one time and blending toward the center as you go.

Bonus - I use it on my cheeks if I'm feeling lazy. Same deal, just add one dot at a time and blend it immediately. It looks nice and sheer and adds beautiful color.

  1. I'm going on errands soon and will pick it up. I am a real lipstick addict! I have too many-always looking for the perfect shade, texture and lasting ability. I'll report back.

  5. I have this too! But it always looks a little uneven so I'm definitely going to try your trick to apply it.

  6. I have that in the same color and have done the same thing with it...oops! I usually end up rubbing half of it off. I'll have to try your dotting technique.

  8. YES! I got "Cinnamon" about a month ago as well and wear it almost every day (when I'm not feeling bold and wearing bright red.) I agree with the applying lightly and rubbing it in immediately, and outlining. It's very lightweight and does last a long time!

  14. Oh! I have been meaning to try this too. Thanks so much for bringing it up - how does it wear? Does it make your lips at all dry?

  15. That's interesting because I've had a different experience. Mine goes on very lightly. It seems almost dried out. I almost have to press hard, like I'm rubbing an old magic marker on my lips. It makes me wonder if maybe the tube I got was already dried out a bit.

  16. I was so excited to buy this product when it came out, but for some reason it just doesn't work for me. It is too marker-like and doesn't spread evenly. I'm going to try your technique...perhaps I'm just doing it wrong!

  17. i just got this too! [in shade 405] and yeah, love it... but you speak the truth... you have to be fast before it sets

  18. I commented on this already, but just remembered one thing! I keep the little clear plastic inner lid on, and I don't know if that's what's helped, but mine hasn't dried out at all.
And yes!! Dot lightly, smear in. Dot lightly, smear in. Line lightly, smear in. Then I still blot after that which doesn't really produce anything on the tissue. I've had it on for 3 hours so far and it's still there - drank some coffee too. It's all about the very light and quick application!
