Address label issues

Can we talk about address labels? I like to think of myself as an easy going person, but at some point I'm going to have to give up that delusion. I am a little obsessive and for some reason, things like address labels drive me nuts. I have never been able to bring myself to use the free ones that various charities send to me (does that make me a terrible person? I still donate). I can't even use them to pay our bills, which D thinks is slightly insane.

I spent literally hours online researching address labels when we moved to our apartment. Most sites offer you three choices of "font" - regular, bold or italic. People, italic is not a font. It just isn't.

How I wish I'd seen Sweet Paperie's Etsy shop when I was going through this madness. Look at these lovely designs. And I'm smitten with the old fashioned wooden stamp they use.

There are so many designs to choose from that it's tough to narrow it down. I think I need all three of these. 1 for business-y correspondence, 2 for fun letters and 3 for whimsical notes.

For those of you who still want glossy address labels, I highly recommend the site I finally managed to track down. iPrint's website may not look very promising, but they offer more flexibility (and fonts!) than any other place I found. Start with their standard address label page and you will be able to adjust the fonts, add graphics, and move layouts around.

I ended up picking a design something like the one shown below (but customized, so it looks much nicer in person), and I've been very happy with it. You get 300 glossy white labels for $7.99 and they come on a roll in a little dispenser. Sweet. You can even add your own graphic if you want.

Okay, just go ahead and tell me - am I completely crazy or do some of you have issues with this as well?

  2. I really love #3. I want that. Too bad, I don't know what country I'll be living in in three months.

  4. You're not obsessive and you're not insane. No, quite extraordinary, detailed, and delightful! I may be biased :)

  6. oh, i'm with you on the charity address label issues, too: the only thing i like getting less is the pasted-in dime with a note. "ten cents could make a difference!" lordy, don't send it to me, then! (i donate plenty, i just don't like the freebies.)

love these, on the other hand! alas, like vanessa, i'll have to hold off until i know where i'm living next (yay for moving, though!).

  7. LOL I never use labels - I'm weird I guess or, maybe it is because I've never liked the charity labels and have never paid to have some made.

  8. I am with you. I can't get myself to use those labels and I truly wish all the organizations would save money and paper and not send them!

  10. I know just what you mean about address labels, but I admit that I do use the cheesy ones for bills.

This is so helpful for another reason too! The 300 glossy stickers you bought is perfect for me. I just ran out of stickers for my white patent jewelry bags and I need my logo uploaded.

    Thanks!

  11. Totally understand not using the free ones- I would address 100 envelopes by hand before I would stick one of those on. Ridiculous- but true! :)

  12. Oh. I really want to buy one. However, I might be moving in a few months. Guess I have to wait.

  13. I get you. Those free ones are usually very cheesy and I don't use them either. I'm loving #3 up there, I would certainly use those.

  19. Oh come on, you mean you don't like the address labels that come free with the diabetes research donation mailers?

Grey sweatpants are okay, as long as they're not tapered. It's the entire suit that is no good.

  21. But...but wait!!! I just ordered the ones from yesterday! Now you show me these??? CRAP! I love them all. And I have been on a major quest for good ones.

PS Thanks for doing all my legwork for me!

  22. i dont have issues with labels per se, but it's likely because i don't have to send many things out.

if i DID, however, i'd be OCD about it as well.

i've already got this shop hearted on etsy, in preparation for the day when i start selling things like crazy and need to ship out three, four, five things a day and don't want to tire my hand out with hand-writing return addresses on my packages.

and when that happens, i can guarantee you i'd get some kick-ass labels.

    to quote amanda, above:

    "MUSHROOMS! GNOMES!"

great picks. love 'em. now go mail something!

  23. No no, you're not crazy at all---this is the reason why I haven't ordered any. They're all usually so ugly! And am I a bad person for thinking less of old college friends when they send me things stickered with what are clearly the freebie address labels?

seriously, there are standards to uphold here. we're a civilized people! this isn't the dark ages!

  26. So glad that I am not the only one with issues.
Funny, they can't seem to "label" me either. But I know it is one part address label issues and the other part purely personal.
You want cool labels - see iomoi on line.

  27. I can so identify with this. I spend too much time looking for the perfect label and then get so overwhelmed that I don't order. Felix Doolittle has some with really sweet illustrations on them.
    Always on the look-out!

  29. Another thing not very popular in the UK is address labels. I have never received a letter with one on. But I did spend over £100 buying personalised correspondence cards from John Lewis with my name and address on them - some people were very impressed...

  30. Crazy ;)
But, I just bought a stamp from The Paperwink for weddingness, and we'll use it long after the wedding. Double plus: stylish, reusable, and just $18.
