Weekend + no shopping update (three weeks)

sewing

The weekend involved a little bit of everything. Lucha Va Voom, which was amazing. Baking (recipe coming up later this week). Sewing, some successful, some not so successful. Oh, and lots of delicious sleeping.

I have to admit that last week was a bit difficult on the no shopping front. I felt like the retail world was out to get me. Did you see the Toast sale? Or the Rose and Radish sale? And I didn't even click over to the J. Crew sale, or the twelve million Bluefly sales they kept emailing me about. Here was my imaginary shopping cart at Toast. Note how restrained I was - only three items!

Scarf, shoes, and bag

The bag is a pretty serious temptation, but I have to say that not shopping makes things easier in general. I feel tempted but not conflicted and I don't waste time agonizing over whether or not to buy something. It's very freeing, in a way.

How are my fellow non-shoppers holding up? And did anyone who is shopping indulge in some sales last week? Let me live vicariously through you.

  1. I only ate out 1 time during the month of January and it was all the more enjoyable. when you do shop, it will have a new meaning. I love your will=power.

  2. I hit a challenge in my not-buying-pajamas resolution, but I perservered! I did NOT buy that sweet red and white on-sale nightie. I'm very imporessed with you.

(p.s. those Toast shoes are so wonderful. I had to wrest myself from the computer when I saw them.)

  6. Love that bag! I'm spending too much on home renovations right now to even think about clothes, so that's making things much easier to resist too!

  7. I have found that the longer I go with no shopping the easier it does get... what guilt I would have if I bought something now! So keep going, you can do it!

  8. Your accessory choices are so cute! Good work on your self-restraint Rachel!

I have not been shopping since the holidays (not even the flea market, eek!), and in fact, I'm attempting to purge out what I do have so that I don't have to worry about so much "stuff" in my life ;)

  10. I feel like I should unsubscribe from all those sale e-mails to stop the temptation. But the Toast ones are such beautiful works of art - they get me every time!
